Contracts worth over
£750,000 are in progress on two of Europe's largest
civil engineering projects, Heathrow's Terminal 5 and
the London terminus of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link at
St. Pancras railway station.
At
Heathrow, Hart Door Systems has installed over 50 high-speed
smoke/fire doors. Just 2m wide x 1.5m high, these special
Speedor doors are high-speed in operation and provide
a seal for 30 minutes in the event of fire.
The photograph indicates
the quality of engineering required to meet the client's
demanding specification and operating requirements.
In addition, Hart is
installing a mixed package of roller shutter and fire
doors in the lower ground service area and fire shutters
on the Tube access tunnels leading directly to Terminal
5. The contracts have been placed through Vanderlande
Industries, Mace, Warings and Balfour Beatty Construction
(BBCL)
At
St. Pancras, two main areas have Hart fire shutters and
standard roller shutters, the services area and the main
retail area. Contracts are being carried out for Costain,O'Rouke,
Bachy and Emcor Rail (CORBER), OAG and ISG.
Hart's technical director,
Alan Richardson, says that both contracts indicate Hart's
ability to work within the strict disciplines of major,
complex, contracts. "Our reputation for technical
excellence, backed up our national network of installation
and service engineers, developed over many years, gives
us a distinct edge when involved in major infrastructure
projects such as Terminal 5 and St. Pancras," says
Mr. Richardson.
Terminal 5 opens
spring 2008 and St. Pancras was officially opened by her Majesty the Queen on the 6th of November 2007.
